FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Can blood samples from the ear be used?
There is no reason why samples from the ear should not be used for the Chempaq XBC, but so far we have no studies documenting this. Such studies will be available later. Consequently, at this point in time only capillary samples from the finger can be used.

Is any sample preparation prior to the measurement required?
Capillary blood samples are drawn directly from the finger and transferred to the PAQ. For venous blood sampled EDTA must be used as anticoagulant. Diluted blood samples can not be used for the Chempaq XBC. For further information please visit "User Instruction" and take a look in the section;
Sampling of venous blood sample.

What is the required sample size?
One droplet of blood (approx. 20 µL) is necessary for filling the capillary tube; only 3 µL of blood is used for the test.

Can I use a PAQ, if there is an air bubble in the blood sample in the capillary inlet?
An air bubble in the valve cause an erroneous result. Consequently, PAQs with air bubbles cannot be used for measurements and must be discarded.

Is the Chempaq XBC CE marked?
Yes, on the 31th January 2005 Chempaq XBC obtained the CE marking.

Is the Chempaq XBC ready for the US?
Yes, we obtained the FDA 510(k) clearance in December 2005. The product is designed to get the CLIA-waiver. We expect a waiver status in near future.
