The Chempaq XBC (eXpress Blood Counter) is a diagnostic test for counting white blood cells and for quantifying hemoglobin. The Chempaq XBC technology offers a five-parameter test: White Blood Cells (WBC=Leucocytes), three part differentials (Lymphocytes, Monocytes and Granulocytes) and Hemoglobin. The test comprises a small disposable cassette: the PAQ (Particle Analyzer and Quantifier), and a Reader at the size of a desk telephone. The capillary blood sample (approx. 20 µL), obtained using a finger stick, is collected directly in the PAQ, which is then placed in the Reader. After three minutes, the result of the test analysis is displayed on the Reader. If the supplied printer is connected a printout is automatically made.

All reagents are contained in the PAQ which means no external handling and storage of reagent bottles. State-of-the-art precision and accuracy are a matter of course. This means fast and reliable results.

The Reader is factory calibrated and does not require any intermediate calibration by the user. Quality Control (QC) is performed electronically. The Chempaq XBC is easily operated and is designed to fulfill un-trained user's requirements.

The cost of Chempaq XBC is significantly less than that of existing low-end CBC analyzers! In addition, the disposable cassette eliminates the need for purchasing reagents, QC material and maintenance agreements, making the Chempaq XBC a highly competitive hematology test alternative. The Chempaq XBC was launched in Denmark in Q1 2005 and in Q4 2005 in the Nordic Region.
